essential oils

Has anyone used essential oils for atopic/allergic dermatitis? My parents are essential oilers and my dad has a big list of oils for topical application and ingestion (pet safe) and I'm curious to know if anyone has had luck with anything like this? (I'm a skeptic).

A friend of mine is going through a bad time with one of her French bulldogs right now... She is using evening primrose oil with some good success...
She also is using Isle of Dog evening primrose shampoo.
And she has taken him off ALL grains. The diet seems to be most helpful.

Coconut Oil works wonders for coat and skin in addition to Salmon Oil. Coconut Oil can be used internally and externally

just posting this for anyone in the future that is looking at this:

STAY AWAY FROM TEA TREE OIL. IT IS EXTREMELY TOXIC TO DOGS

even newfs. It can kill them, even in small amounts.

AKA Melaleuca. Good point!

We've got Lavender and a few other things on the list. I look them all up individually before application.

She's had salmon oil since the day we brought her home, and coconut oil intermittently, and her skin LOOKS pristine, she has a gorgeous coat, but the itchies still come back worst seasonally (we both suffer at the same tiem, my eyes and nose go crazy, and she gets itchy)

i understand, i just didn't want someone looking at this in the future to be unaware of the dangers of tea tree oil...we came very close to loosing a dear friend's dog last summer to it.

I don't have any info on stopping itching, except *maybe* lemon, but I was wondering about trying local honey? As long as she's healthy otherwise, raw local (make sure it's local!!) honey might help both of your immune systems adjust to local allergens.
