ESD Protection for newfies?

Is anyone else's newf an absolute storage chamber for static electricity? Matilda is terrible. I can hardly pet her at all without the two of us exchanging the initial contact shock. It is seriously starting to frighten her. She won't come into the living room or family room anymore (both rooms are carpeted).

Just curious if anyone else has this problem. We brush her daily and that in itself is becoming almost impossible due to the static buildup in her coat. I've never had this problem before. Our male is just fine, granted he is more of a flat coat than a newf but I'm just baffeled.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

Mike

Sounds to me like a humidifer is in desperate need for your home. Till you get one you can boil a large pot of water on your stove. But you need a humidifier

I'v recently been getting a few shocks myself so I have been boiling extra water on stove, running our small humidifier and adding some small amounts of bacon grease in Maggies food and her hair is starting to not be so fly away and we haven't been shocking  each other quite as much!

There was a post about this on Newf L sometime in the last couple of years. Some people use a spray bottle and mist their Newfs, to cut down on the static electricity. I just can't remember what was IN the spraybottles!!!
