Draft Brag (NCS)

Just wanted to note that this past Saturday was the Newfoundland Club of Seattle's fall draft test. We had 8 entries (7 DD entrants and 1 TDD entrant). Five DDs were earned, four were new and one was a requalifier. The other three non-qualifiers were oh so close.

I am pleased to announce that my rescue Nordic Wonder Bear w/Me (Nahkohe) CD, BN, RE, CGC, earned her first Newf title and is now a Draft Dog!

It took Nahkohe two years of very methodical training before she would let me even hitch her (the shafts scared her). Once hitched in June, it took only four months to earn her title, as she took to the "sport" with ease. I am so proud of Nahkohe.

This is only my second DD title and both of my Newfs have earned them on the first try, my personal little brag. :groovy: Next up, a TDD... I hope.

Way to go Amanda and Nahkohe, I know how hard you work at this. Awesome.
Angela,

I even did the test with a 3rd degree sprain and torn ankle. Messed up the ankle exactly one week prior to the test during a draft practice. Nuts I know, but Kohe had worked too hard for me to let her down. Makes the Q that much sweeter.

Ouchy! Where was it? The test, that is!
Game Farm Wilderness Park (Auburn). Have you tested there? We have been doing the fall test there for quite some time now. The terrain can be a bit lumpy. The Bainbridge site is nicer on the feet. :)

I took Evan there for his DD, Auburn, that is, great place. I heard they can't have any more tests at Bainbridge, is that true?

Hadn't heard that about Bainbridge. When did you hear that? I know they plan to switch the spring test every other year to a location closer to OR (why it was in OR this year), so next year it should be up north in WA.

The Bainbridge site is still available for use- I think the conversation arose because I have begged off the spring draft test committee for next year - I will have a graduating senior right around then and will have my mother-in-law AND mother staying with me - I've been the local contact for Bainbridge in the past- I'd be happy to reserve the park if someone else wants to do the test there, just won't be much help. Because we share the weekend with PNNC we decided to rotate an OR and WA site every other year.
