Hi I have some questions for those of you that use these supplements. 1. These are supposed to be natural beef flavored, I think but Baloo won't take them. SO I need to put them in cheese.. For his weight he needs four of them... My quesiton is how long does it take to see pain relief? I wish there was a more concentrated pill so he didn't have to take so many. The Dog gone Pain away is a joint supp that they sent as a sample. I had been using synflex liquid that I can just put over his food, might go back to that as it's much easier to administer.

Thanks
Mickey

I swipe the DGP in cream cheese.....and every dog will take them and they just slide right down.

From what Mary K (Codes) said after trying the Dog Pain Away - it doesn't work.

Dog Gone Pain and Dog Pain Away are NOT the same thing. DGP has been around for a long time and many have used it with great success. DPA is another manufacturer trying to duplicat the Dog Gone Pain.

So, we've stuck with the Dog Gone Pain which we've had great success with. But we also use Cosamin DS for the glucosomine/chrondroitin, and Ester C, and Vitamin E and salmon oil  So LOTS of supplements swiped through cream cheese!

With Max's arthritis, we give him Springtime joint health powder and SOD 4000. We used to give him the DGP and had to administer in cream cheese. The SOD 4000 is a small pill and I mix it in with his food. If he decides to get finicky, the cream cheese or hamburger comes out.

Nice to know that my boy isn't the only one that needs "coaxing" when it comes to pills, I have to admit they do stink like celery seed which is in there:) Yeah the DGPA(dog gone pain away) is the joint supp but I think I'll keep trying just the original DGP. I was reading about a holistic pain med called arinca in this article : it was very interesting and I thought it maybe something I would show to my vet. What do you guys think? Have you heard of this? This is the page: http://www.caberfeidh.com/Pain2.htm
could have spelled that wrong but they even use it post surgical pain. I struggle every day about Prevacoix, it does help but I am so scared about the liver failure that is associated with it. My vet said it can be a PRN and to not use it in combo with other pain relievers etc. That's why I wondered how long it took to see results with the DGP:) The good news is that we have a new Vet in town that specializes in Physical Therapy yeah!:) We are definitley going to have Baloo assessed.

Glyco Flex III has been a godsend for my guys, I was able to get them both off of daily Rimadyl after about a month of Glyco Flex III. I take Puddles to the University of Pennsylvania for her Orthopedic checkups and Glyco Flex is what they highly recommend for joint issues. I can't begin to tell you how happy I was the day I took her off of Rimadyl.
I've listed the information below:

STAGE 3, RESTORE, for maximum support for joint dysfunction. Glyco-Flex III helps
alleviate severe discomfort and joint stiffness.

Glyco-Flex III contains Perna canaliculus, Glucosamine HCl, Dimethylglycine, Methylsulfonylmethane, Manganese, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Selenium, Grape Seed Extract, and Glutathione.

It is the most complete joint formula providing factors necessary for joint restoration, as well as added Methylsulfonylmethane for maximum comfort during recovery.

It is part of the Vetri-Science stage of life program.
