Dog food

Does anyone else feed their dogs "Taste of the Wild" dog food? I just started using this with my guys about 3 months ago. It is $41.00 for a 30 pound bag. Anything comparable that others would recommend? We don't go through it too quickly yet as our 1 Newf is 4 years and our puppy is 4 months but as the pup gets bigger, the need to purchase it more frequestly will increase. Now, it is about 2 weeks between bag purchases.

Ignore the link in this, it is supposed to show the exact age of my dog. I don't think we are set up for this to show, so it shows as a link. I didn't realize it until now.

I use it, and it is about the same price. Snuffles only eats a bit over 2 cups a day, so a bag last over a month. I think any of the quality foods are going to be up there in price if not more.

Thanks Leonard. If you are only feeding Snuffles, and it last over a month, I am hoping that we stay on the same schedule as we are now, with feeding 2 dogs, a bag last about 2 weeks. I free feed both our Newf and the puppy. They are both great weight and neither overeat. Thanks for making me feel better. My husband has a panic attack everytime I go to the pet store to buy food.

You might ask Karen (luvxl k 9). She free feeds her 3 TOTW, and I am thinking her dogs eat a bag about every 2 weeks. A puppy is going to eat more for sure, but as he gets older hopefully the consumption will go down. Are your dogs couch potatoes or active? That might make a difference. Snuffles leans couch potato.

Jack is a couch potatoe or tries to be...the puppy has taken care of this. ; )

Sometimes you can find good deals online. You kind of have to stalk Amazon. They have deals on the smaller bags that work out to be cheaper than buying the big bags. :)

Do you have a Costco anywhere nearby? They have an equivalent of TOTW the Pacific Stream variety - it's less than 40 bucks for a 35 lb bag. Same ingredients.

Unfortunately, I don't have Costcos in my area. Sounds like a great price. : ( Wish that I did.

Oh, me too LOL I drove 2.5 hrs one way with a friend for a breeding (she has Pyrs) and on our way back, we stopped at the Costco close to the reproductive vet and bought four bags. Mine liked it fine as did hers. What about a Tractor Supply Store? They sell it there for a little cheaper than a feed store.

We recently found grain free Nature's Domain (Salmon and Sweet Potato) at Costo. I checked it out of the online dog food analysis site and it is rated higher than the Natural Balance LID that we had been feeding and is about $20 per bag less to buy. Our girls have been on it for a couple months and are doing well with it.

Trying to find a new food for Maggie. Ive been doing some research on the net. I am trying to find a food that is sold here in town. Gas prices are killing me, driving and hour to our nearest PetsMart. I was thinking of Wellness or Taste of the Wild. Tractor Supply is showing they have TOFW 30lbs for 40. Which flavor? UGH! I hate change! HELP!!!!!!!

Max has more allergies than I care to list and we had problems finding a food he could eat. There are few out there and we settled on TOTW Pacific Stream. I believe it was Noblenewf that switched to Natures Domain Salmon and sweet potato and her dogs did well. I switched all of ours and even Max is doing really well on it. I would advise making a run to Costco and buying 3-4 months supply (or more if it can be safely stored). It's $33 for 35 lbs. here. JMHO:)

Thanks Brenda! Was thinking of trying the Pacific Stream. Something about fish and newfs, just seem to go together! lol.

Morgan didn't care for the fish dry food. But watch out is she sees a fish dead in the lake. It's all hers if I don't see it first.
All I can get her to eat is Pro Plan Beef and Rice? Such a finicky girl with all the choices shes had. Have lots of opened bags with no where to go? I did hear Natural Balance was a good food.
