Dog Boots

Does anyone use dog boots on their Newfs/Goldens/other dogs? I'm finishing up a project with a vinyl pool and I want the dogs to go in it but need something for their feet.

There are tons on the web ranging from nylon to suede to leather  Of course the price ranges with them as well....$7 up to $65!! I guess that's more for field dogs and such??

I'm basically looking for something my guys can swim in or walk in water in. Nothing too heavy duty.

If anyone has experience with them and can pass on some advice that would be great.

Thanks!

Hi,are you worried about slipping or their nails gauging the pool? How about the socks they give people in hospital with the grips on the bottom? Just a thought, I have no personal experience using them, but almost did try after Ozzys surgery and he was having trouble on slippery surfaces.
Good Luck!!!

Only thing about covering their feet while swimming...they have webbed feet, and that's what helps them swim so well. If you cover that, will they still be able to swim like a newf? Maybe one of our water experts can weigh in.

The dog boots are so he doesn't gouge the cheapy 10'x33" deep pool we bought at Wally World
I don't think he'll actually be able to swim too much in it but we might try life vests under him to see if he can get more swim action. It's mainly for some non impact exercise or at least we're hoping.

Too funny about the socks from the hospital. Ross has about 5 pairs from his recent broken leg/surgery ordeal...never thought to try those.

I went ahead and ordered these cause they're cheap and if they don't work then we're not out too much $: Balli's new bootys

They should be here by this weekend. I will post some pics of the project and let everyone know if it works. If it does then it's a great idea for people without access to a pool or water area to get some water therapy for their kiddos.

Fingers crossed cause Ross (btw, boyfriend for now but definitely hubby in the future
)is gonna have a fit if this doesn't work after all the time and $$$$$$ we've put into it

I would never put boots or socks on anewfs feet if they are going to try and swim. These dogs were meant to natural swimmers and have webbed feet. Covering htier feet will only inhibit their natural abilites. Many don't even walk well with something on their feet.
