dog beaches in Michigan?

Hi folks! Does anyone know of any good places to take dogs in Michigan? I did a web search and came up with only a couple of places. It seems that Michigan isn't all that dog friendly when it comes to beaches...a shame considering we are surrounded by water! Now that Atticus is bigger and really enjoying every puddle in the driveway, chasing the sprinkler, and leaping through his kiddy pool, I've been looking for places to take him and the kids. No use in taking the husky. Scout is a reincarnated cat. Hates the rain, won't even step in the yard if it's wet. I've even considered buying property, though hubby thinks I've lost my mind.

Thanks!

At Sleepy Hollow State Park (Between Ovid and Laingsburg) there are no signs posted other than dogs need to be on a leash. I let mine swim to the left of the beach area and nobody seemed to mind. A little weedy though.

Another option is Davis Pond. It is just north of the State Police Academy on Canal Road. You have to park near an old Quanset Hut and walk in, but it is rarely used except by the State Police Academy for life saving exercises. It is deep and the water quality is good. I've seen people work retrievers in it before. It's on State Land.

Thanks very much! I'll scout out those places. If anyone else has suggestions, please post. Atticus and I will let you all know how it goes.

Another possibility is Park Lake. There is a public beach right next to the road that is not used very often. It would give easy access and if you used the extreme ends of the beach I bet you would be fine. I think I'll try that one for Stanley. I live about 10 miles North of Lansing so it would be close for me. Maybe I'll see you there sometime.
Also, I sent you a Private Message.
