Does Anyone "Reborn" dolls?

I am thinking about trying this and wondering if anyone here does it and knows the best place for information. My mom is getting older and I think she would really love one of these with red hair like her two babies had.

Watched the program..perhaps yesterday or day before..on the practice in England. Well..only about 12 min. or so. There are so many..'levels'..to the concept/situation..I can say only..it has no attraction for me. ina n HB n Kesa

I think I saw previews for that show, if I'm not mistaken, the people who owned these babies were treating them like they were actual babies. It was a little freaky to see adults react that way to a doll.

Now if you are getting this for your Mom because she's a doll collecter, then I think that's neat.

The baby in the link is very life-like, a bit startling to me. I may have been tainted by that show, though.

My mom does love dolls and has a few, although I wouldnt say she is a big collector. I dont think she would treat it like a real baby though. They have some very nice baby dolls that are factory like the "So Truly Real" line...but I would like to really surprise her for Christmas and they are so expensive if already done. I read a few articles on it and is really not that hard to add some details with paint. One of the tricks is to put lavender colored paint on the inside of all the vinyl parts to make the skin tone look real. Also you put in real mohair with a needle. I love to do crafts and this would be fun.

I agree! It would be fun, if I was that talented I'd do it.

I'm not though, I've always been the paint by number kind of person. I remember being little and coloring in a coloring book, I'd do your basic coloring; neat, solid colors.......I thought it was good, until my cousins showed me their pages and they had shadowing and highlighting, I never thought about doing it that way, my mind is not that creative....and they were a little younger than me:darn:.
