DisneyWorld

We're looking at taking Collin to Disney, so I've been checking out all the options.

Does anyone know if it's more beneficial to book online ON the Disney site? Or better through a travel agent?

And for those of you who have gone with kids in the 8-10 range, what were their favorite things?? And what were YOUR favorite things? Where's the best restaurants and everything else you can tell me???

TIA!

The best thing we ever did was to get a Disney World Card (not a charge card) you can sign up for it on their website and it gives you privvy to all their best deals. Also gives you discounts once you get there too. You'll have a great time!!

We stayed at the Sheraton Vistana, 1 mile away from Disney for a lot less than staying in the park. We had a 2 bedroom condo, w/2 Full baths and a full kitchen, a covered patio, washer & dryer. The place has playgrounds all over and 7 pools, a general store, and a couple of full service restaurants. Dominos on the grounds, and everything delivers to the rooms. We would have been happy (so would the kids) to stay there for a week without Disney. There are activities for the kids, it's really a great place. I love everything about Disney, once you're there you realize that you never really grow up. Hope you have a blast!!

I took my boys years ago, but they were older. I did very little research and had a travel agent book it and I think I payed more that way. The one thing I did learn was:

If you stay at the park make sure you get a fridge. There are cabs that will take you to the store which is about 2 miles away. I didn't know there were cabs and walked it!

There is also a little store near the grocery that sells 3 day passes for universal studios. You can buy a pass and bring it back for either a 2 day refund, or you can also buy a single day pass for much less than at the park

Also most important HAVE FUN!!!!

Kelly, do you belong to AAA? That is where we found the best deal and we stayed at the Carribean Beach hotel I think it was called, it was awsome! We loved it all, and you have to hit downtown Disney too! All the Disney hotels have shuttles to all the parks so it is so easy to get around. And if you buy something at the park you can have them deliver it right to your hotel room so you don't have to carry it around with you all day, how cool is that!!

There are so many places to choose from. As long you stay some place not far away and nice, you will have a great time! And warning, they get you comming and going! Cha Ching!

It's hard to say which is the best, everything at Disney World is awesome! I LOVE Disney! If your kids like rides, Universal Studios' Adventure Island will be a blast. Universal Studios also. And Don't forget Sea World. I don't know what your budget and time is like, but Kennedy Space Center is fun too.

But Disney is an entire Vacation in itself so you might just have to go back to visit the other parks. Adventure Island though is something you definately want to do while you're there if you guys like rides!

We may pop down there this summer ourselves. Dress cool and wear comfortable shoes. And have a Blast!

Oh yeah get a speed pass! Or a VIP pass if you can.

I think we'll be staying at Disney and only doing Disney. There's SO much to do there I'm wondering how many days we'll need. Right now I'm hopping between 4 or 5 nights there. Playing around with flights to see when I can get there the soonest and leave the latest without jacking the overall price up. We're going in the fall, so hopefully we'll avoid all the heat. (I HATE being hot!)

I'm also trying to figure out if I want to add the water park option since I think Collin would really like DisneyQuest...and if you pay admission to that separetly, it's almost $100 for us! I think adding the water park option would be beneficial since you can go to more things, and not only once.

Their dining plan sounds like a good deal too. Definately adding that.

Keep the ideas coming! Much appreciated.

We're going next month. We're renting a house from www.mousepadsorlando.com for the week. The cost to get the house was better than hotel rates and it has a pool, BBQ, kitchen, etc. I saw the tip on here about sidestep.com for airline tickets and found the best rates for that there. I'll let you know if I come up with anything else. Have fun planning your trip! I'll let you know how ours went by the end of July.
