As everyone knows I have had a time with Sara not eating. I have tried everything I can think of. I just gave in and let her eat gravy--that is all she would eat--the cheap store brand or (I am embarrassed to admit)
alpo prime slices with gravy.
Hey you gotta do what you gotta do. Believe me I have tried everything even putting it in her mouth and holding her till she ate it. Anyway I took her to the vet today to weigh her and she has lost an additional 2 pounds now weighing in at 102. (Her normal is 114)
Well I sat down with the vet tech and we went over all the things Sara would eat to see if there was a common ground. Low and behold it was salt. She will eat chips, canned gravy, the alpo--all salty things. So tonight I fed her a regular diet of 1 1/2 cups of Bil Jac Select with 1 1/2 cans of Iams. I sprinkled seasoned salt on it and she ate it all. Even licked the bowl. I think she would have eaten more, but I was afraid she would get sick.
Can you imagine--salt. At 11 1/2 if salt is what it takes to get her to eat then salt it is. Of course not too much... Hey she ate a real meal the first time in 2 months. Now if she only will eat it tomorrow!! Say a prayer
