Well the new study on bloat is out, from purdue, i still dont buy into all these studies. they are well and good and sometimes very informative.
but.....
i feed high, they eat off the flexi feeders set on high, they have done this since 86, never had one bloat yet.
some say becouse wolves dont feed high that dogs shouldnt, well hold on a minute, did you guys ever see some of the large prey they bring down? they do feed part time standing up and level with the prey, head up a lot of times. they are ACTIVE while eating.
i have some trouble with people comparing domesticated dogs to the wild cousins, first off becouse us humans have messed with size etc... SELECTING whom breeds to whom, where in wolf society they select amongst themselves and decide who breeds when and to whome for reasons of mother nature being the boss.
when dogs are domesticated, and gene pools limited problems crop up.
do i feed high to PREVENT bloat?
nope, i do it to stretch the pasterns, very much needed in young growing newfs, i also do it to bring the toes up, also necessary for young growing newfs.
sorry but to many people with pets that fed off the FLOOR i know of that bloated, and not hardly one that hasfed off a high feeder that i know has bloated.
to many variables i think to be able to CONCLUSIVLY say that this is a contributer.
