Coat Question

Now that Maggie's full coat has grown in with the thyroid meds, the texture is different. The main part of her body is shiny and silky, at least when clean and brushed :tongue: but her "mane" around her neck and shoulders is MASSIVE and also just very fluffy/poofy. It's not shiny like her body. Her hind end is the same way.

Is this normal?

Is this where I should use the Mars Coat King? Something else? Or just leave it?

We are experiencing the same thing with Myra....but I've cut her back with clippers. I would say yes it's normal cause that is exactly what Zeke is like normally. And with Zeke I always use the mars coat king after I thin with shears but it's all in how you like the look. I like Zeke with more hair and Myra with less, so it's kinda up to you;)

I think it's up to you. We just gave Elvis a really good trim/thinning out (on purpose this time!) to make it easier to get snow off him since he enjoys playing in it so much. He gets a pretty thick chest, so I thin it out and try to cut off the scraggly parts that grow longer than the rest. It gets so thick it makes him look really out of proportion and a lot bigger than he really is, so thinning it and rounding it to match his body just makes him look nicer.

Thanks. I'm going to try the thinning shears and the coat king. I'm still afraid of clippers....

Maybe I just need to visit Lynn for a lesson next time we head out to LI!
