I use the Double K power clipper. I like it because the motor is not in the hand set and it don't get hot as well as the power it has. It costs about $250-300 depending on where you get it
But since you are not a groomer you may want to stick with an Oster Gold 2 speed clipper. Price range is $100-$150 (I think I have not checked lately) Andis also makes a good clipper, but I have never used any of them so I cannot vouch for it...
But I do have a question. Why do you want a clipper for a newf? I use the clipper on a newf very little--mainly to shave private area, tunnel out the belly for coolness in the summer and to get out mats behind the ears.

Hi Jeannie, that's just what I want them for. Don't forget I have 7 here now. I'd like to shorten everyone's tummy fur for coolness, I'd like to clean up the potty end of the girls, some of them have wads under the ears and poor Emma, who has huge scabs all over her chest, her legs, etc. has to be shaved. She's all wadded up where I did not brush her for all this time. I was afraid of hurting her. So... I decided I should make the purchase and have them on hand. Heck, if it gets really humid here this summer, and it does sometimes, I may clip who's suffering the most down all over

You have SEVEN. I would spend the extra money and get the Double K. It is very powerful and will make the job lots easier on you and your newf. Be sure to get a #10F and a 8 1/2F blade. The 10 will be good to get the mats out. If they are really tight you may want to get a 15F too. The 8 1/2 will be good for tunneling the bellies. Does not make it too short, but is short enough to cool them
