We had our NCNC (California) Newfy Club meeting Saturday the 9th. I baked a batch of gingerbread newfs. Thought I would share them with you!

OK - but you owe me.

How about telling me where you got a Newfie Cookie Cutter?!? I want one!

I have had the cutter for many years. It was given to me by a Pyr lady who didn't like it because it did not have the Pyr "gay"tail. As a cutter, it looks more like a golden, but when the cookies puff up, they look just like Newfs.
It is just an outline cutter, all the details are modeled by hand with a bamboo meat skewer.
I use black icing coloring. The kind used by cake decorators. It comes in little jars and if over used gives everyone black tongues. You'd think it was a Chow club!
I once read an article about making your own cutters from thin sheet metal, bending them into an outline , then soldering them, but that sounds like a lot of work. Must be an easier way. Any ideas?

PS I must be getting close to becoming a pack member. (I've started my winter vacation break for year-round school, I have more time to play now.

You can also get Copper Newf cookie cutters from www.petimpressions.com

There are all sorts of wonderful Newfie things there. You can find the Cookie Cutters under the Christmas category.

BTW, I am not affiliated in anyway with Pet Impressions, other than having spent some money there from time to time!!!

I have one from YEARS ago that was a Regional ring gift. It hangs on a plaque- very pretty! Bake the cookies, wash it and hang it back up!
