I've been (if you check out Senior Newf section thread on constipation) trying to help my old gal Momo with her more lackadaisical bowels. I got the very helpful suggestion of canned pumpkin. It has been a big help to her.
One day last week, when we ran out of pumpkin, I decided to try sprinkling some of my chia seeds (organic, from Paraguay!) on her dinner. Of course, true newf, she gobbled them up. I had added a tablespoon or so. I've since just been using these chia seeds, and I see when I use them, they seem to "ease the way" for her. They are tiny, flavorless seeds packed w/calcium, protein and act as roughage.
Thoughts? These apparently have more OMEGAS than SALMON! So thought, as a nutritional supplement, they were particularly apt for a newf.
