Change in coat

Hello! I have a 14 month male Newf. I'm not exactly sure what's going on with his coat, but he is currently leaving tufts everywhere. And the fur closest to his skin feels much different than the longer fur. Almost like pillow stuffing. Sometimes I think it's matted, but it's not. I know Newfs have a thick undercoat, is that what I'm feeling? And what are these tufts?

Yes, that is his undercoat which he will shed in tufts seasonally, as well as other normal shedding all year long. At the moment, he is "blowing" his coat. The coarser, shinier. and longer fur is his top coat. Keep it all combed regularly, so it won't mat and so you won't find tumbleweeds on the floor.

Oh, and WELCOME to NN!
