Cat Acne...

Hi Newf Netters!!

I hope you're all doing well!!

My cat, Nina, came to me from the shelter with a really bad case of cat acne...She had been under vet's care, and was getting her face washed several times a day with peroxide when I got her...I kept it up and after a month of little to no improvement, I started washing her face with baby shampoo....

After another month with no improvement, I decided to take her to my regular vet...They gave her a round of antibiotics and I noticed a big difference pretty quickly...

She went from having a very "dirty" looking chin (it even showed up in pictures!) to having a mild case of it by the time she was done with the antibiotics...I thought it would just go away if I continued to wash her face....

Well...Shortly after it flared up again...Not so bad, but still, it was there...

I decided to take matters into my own hands...I started using Bag Balm on her face...

It worked wonders...She only has flare ups a few times a year now...

She's got one currently...That's why I'm mentioning it...

I am just wondering if anyone here might have a better suggestion for what I can use to treat it?....

I feel like Bag Balm is fairly "safe" because it's used on cows and it's an antiseptic and it's very mild...(should she inadvertently ingest any) ... However, I'm wondering if there's something else I should use?...

Also, I wonder if I should wash her face with dawn (I know that's safe on animals) as it is an antibacterial?...Or if I could use antibacterial hand soap?....I think while the baby shampoo was good for it's mild properties, I don't think it's antibacterial and that's really the problem we're dealing with here, I do believe...

Any advice would be appreciated... :)

Thanks, everyone!!
