Cardiologist Accuracy

Have any of you had a dog cleared by a cardiologist as a puppy who was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect later on in life? Either bred by you or personally owned. I'm asking specifically about a cardiologist, not a practitioner. Since OFA won't accept heart results until the dog is older (1 year or 2?) I was wondering how common it is for it to go unnoticed. I asked because a puppy I am considering is from a a line with SAS a few generations back, although the parents are clear. It's just in the family, not a direct descendant. Would you consider a puppy from a dog who has thrown a heart puppy in the past with a different sire if all the puppies in this litter were cleared? If that's a question that you need more specifics on to answer, feel free to email me privately. I think I've already made my choice, but I need more opinions from those who know much more about Newfies than I.

First, while I have not had it happen, I have heard on occasion, a puppy that cleared before going to it's new home, be diagnosis at adult check with a problem. As the dog, or any animal for that matter, matures things do change.

Second, as far taking a puppy from a line where there is SAS back in the lines. That is something that will be a personal call. you find people would take a littermate to someone who go near it. I personally would probably take the puppy if everything else was what I wanted.
