Melissakins...all of these dogs are already in Rescue. There's no worry about them getting good care.

If you ever see one in a shelter/humane society (especially when you see the words "high kill shelter"...but even if you don't)...notify the Newf Rescue in the area the dog is in.

Or put a post up asking who here is the rescue in that area, and PM them the info.

Here's a link to the sticky on NN...about who to contact.

Just PM the rescue people here....if the dog is in need.

I don't post a lot here, so I don't know the "rules". I also posted the same info on another board in the hopes of getting some of the dogs OUT of rescue/whatever into forever homes.

I figured from reading other posts that it was okay to say oh hey, there's a Newf in such and so area who needs a home.

I think what rescue people do is GREAT! They're the reason we have one of our hairy kids
Keep up the good work!

You didn't break any "rules"; We just want you to know that these dogs are ALREADY rescued

I know MY husband says, "the dogs have it better here than I do!" Alot of these dogs, although it may seem they are institutionalized, are actually in loving homes, getting needed love, training, assessment and health care, preparing them for GREAT forever homes.

Lots of us have dogs from these very rescues. We enjoy seeing the doggies; They are safe though
Just LOOK at that Bronze Male!!!! He sure doesn't look to me like he needs rescuing!!! LOL.

There's a difference between a shelter/animal control and rescue.

Many of the dogs you see in rescue have been taken from a shelter somewhere. They're then usually placed in a foster home, where the people who are fostering them get their medical care, train them, evaluate them, socialize them, groom them and love them...just to make sure they get into the right forever home.

(The series of events may differ with each situation, but the end result is the same! )

Some stay a while in foster care...some only a short time. Others stay forever....because the foster family adopts them.

To be honest, I'm not sure what the "rules" are, and I've been here a while. There was a LONG discussion thread about posting rescues, whether or not it should be done on NN....and I don't really remember the final decision.

I believe that if you find one in need...in a newspaper, a flyer, a shelter, etc...that we've been asked to notify the closest (to that animal) Newf rescue in the area, so they can handle it.

If you don't know who that is...it's okay to ask in a thread, and then have the rescues PM you for more information, so they can research it better.
