I need some tips. Teddy is REALLY bored and he is starting to act out. Problem is that the vet told me to keep his activity light because of the OCD in his shoulder.

Anyone have any tips on ways to keep him stimulated? I won't be able to afford the surgery until mid or late september. The vet said that putting the off by a month or two wont cause long term damage.

Lots of mental games. Interactive toys may help too as long as they don't move too much. I do games like "find it" where I will hid a tiny treat under small cones (or cups, boxes whatever I grab). Have them sit and place two, three or more as they get the idea near them and then have them find it. Also can teach some easy tricks that won't hurt the shoulder, have an easy training session that's short. Teach "touch", I do "paw touch" and "nose touch" so I have a choice. I also will add direction to "around" and do around right and left, "shake" (or paw) right and left. None of those are really active things so it helps me it's too hot or rainy for outside training. Hope this gives you some ideas to keep Teddy "entertained" until he's through surgery and healed up.

Swimming is great idea. Sometimes something as simple as a car ride wears Elvis out. It's what we do when it's raining and he loves them. He also has some puzzle toys, but baby carrots in an empty milk jug work just as well.
