boiled chicken & rice

I know this may be a dumb dumb question, but is there any specific recipe ya'll use for boiled chicken and rice?
My mom asked me to ask ya'll. Her lab ate 3 bags of dark chocolate he got off the kitchen counter while she was out. She took him to the ER & they induced vomitting and then gave him fluids while keeping him overnight. He's fine, thank God, but she has to feed him a bland diet since he's had a little system shock from the induced purge and probably some of the chocolate that managed to get digested.
Is there a specific way those of you who have done this, prepare it? Or just throw the chicken in a pot and cook some rice? Is it regular white rice?

If you're starting with a whole chicken: place in pot with enough water to cover, bring to low boil, cover, and let cook for approximately 45 minutes. In another pot, make rice. Be sure to rinse white rice in strainer before preparing. Make as directed, usually a 1 cup rice: 2 cups water.

When chicken is thoroughly cooked through, remove from pot and let cool. When cool enough to handle, remove skin, debone and shred or cut up chicken into bite sized pieces. Throw away skin, since it is fatty and will often cause diarrhea. Dispose of bones. Take chicken broth and refrigerate overnight. Fat will rise to top and harden. Skim off fat and throw away. You will be left with a nice broth to add to pup's food or to your own recipes.

Depending on how upset pup's tummy is and how much total you feel you want to feed, I mix rice and chicken together 1:1 approximately. Sometimes I add a little cottage cheese to the mix. You can also water this down a little into a slurry if you are concerned about his fluid intake. Do not force pup to eat.

Usually you're to feed at the start about half of his normal food intake, in chicken and rice. We were told to make it 2/3rds carb (rice) to 1/3 meat. We start off with multiple small meals a day, and gradually increase the amount that they get (and decrease the number of feedings) provided their tummies tolerate it okay.

I don't know if the exact recipe matters as long as you boil it.
I use hamburger 'cuz I always have that on hand and it is already ground and easy to prepare. I make one pound of burger meat mixed with 1-1.5 cups rice.
Glad the labbie will be okay!!

Glad to see what people do with the boiled burger. That is what Snuffles substitue vet want me to feed when he was not firm out the rear end. I never really got what I called a good answer. Some have said just use the meat as a flavoring. Also, at least dry food is easy to measure, but rice and meat can pack so easily, so it is hard to tell the right amount.

BTW, Snuffles loved the white rice and boiled hamburger, so he gets it as a special meal now and then.
