bathing

I attempted to give Brady a bath today. Attempt being the key...We have a very deep tub so I knew that was out. So I had the bright idea to take him in the shower and use the hand sprayer. WELL, I sat on the little seat in the shower for a 1/2 hour trying to get the little boy in. Finally he got close enough, I wet him and got the soap on him. Now, I tried to rinse him off. Well, my bathroom floor was nicely cleaned today, Brady looks good, but I know he isn't that clean. Would I be an awful mother if I took him to a groomer for his baths? I hate using the outside hose as it is too cold. This summer we can use the heated outside hose from our camper, but in the cold weather that is out. He lets me trim his nails, clean his ears and brush him but this bathing thing isn't working. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Why don't you check around for a self service dog wash. They are becoming more and more popular. You take the dog in and bath it yourself--no messy bathroom to clean and you have the proper equipment to make the job easier. I offer that at my shop and people love it. Even if the shop does not offer it, you can ask and they may let you use their equipment. I had done that many times before I opened the self serve.

If you cannot find one, I don't see anything wrong taking him in for a bath only. Just be sure to get a good groomer.

Thank you Jeannie, I like that idea much better. We have a good groomer near by, but to be honest I hate the thought of leaving him.
