Bathing

A couple questions from a fairly new Newfie owner, he is 8 months now, got him at 6 weeks. We live in Canada in a Northern town, where we get harsh winters. As far as bathing him in the winter, I just don't see how it is possible, I mean where will you find an indoor tub big enough???
Ben is getting his adult coat, and it's gorgeous, very thick, wavy and extremely shiny. I groom him with a rake and a comb, also have a slicker brush. The one problem I do have with him is in his chest where alot of his drool tends to sit. He starts to get smelly here, and seems to be wet alot of the time. I have baby receiving blankets that I dry him with, but do you have any other suggestions as far as spot cleaning his chest area? If that's possible. Thanks,

Jennifer

Welllllll...I saw this one "dry" shampoo at Petco that I'm going to try out myself. It's a brand called "Veterinarian's Best" in a bright yellow bottle and it's a foam - not unlike shaving cream. You just spray it on, it absorbs the dirt and other yuckies in the fur while it dries then you brush it out. It comes in a fresh, clean scent that's not at all "perfumy".

My Nani's problem area is her rump and the backs of her legs and I'd rather not give her an outright bath every time she gets dirty in that area (which is quite often) and risk drying her skin out.

If you do decide to get this stuff and you get it before me, let me know how it works!

I don't know about you guys but here in Australia we have these dog wash places that are like car washes. They have big Stainless steel tub thingies and you put your dog in (they are plenty big enough for newfies) and then you put your coins and and away you go. There are different cycles,ie rinse, shampoo, blow dry, flea rinse etc. You just push the button you want. We have one about five minutes from home and there are six different cubicles. They are fantastic for washing your dog. The owners of the one we go to say they have avout six regular Newfie customers.

That sounds fun...and convenient! I don't think there's any place like that around me. But there's a grooming place where you can bathe your Newf yourself, or have someone do it for you.

Well, that settles it then...I'm moving to Australia.
Canada isn't equipped with that kind of stuff, but you're giving me ideas..."things that make ya go Hmmmmm..."

I think 'Nature's Miracle' has wipes, kind of like baby wipes, that you can use to spot clean.
