Anyone know anything about Mac computers

I got a Mac book and I love it so far. Had it for a couple of weeks. Tonight, Bacardi laid on the keyboard for all of 15 seconds and changed my display to a negative (all the black is white, all the white is black). Newf Net is a black screen with peach accents. Very 80's. I HATE IT! But I went to systems preferences and checked the display. It's listed as blue with blue highlights but that's definitely not what it is.

If anyone has any ideas. I rebooted. I changed settings and saved them. I have a TON of work to do and can't be on this display for very long without getting bug eyed. I'd appreciate it.

And if you laugh, please do it quietly as I'm volatile right now. :(

Well, since I am currently working for Microsoft, I would say GET RID OF IT! I hear they have good customer service.... Just send it back to them and get your money back!

Actually, my 17 year old has an iMac. Seems that it will make a good boat anchor. Just yesterday he was Photoshoping some images for me and he need to leave in the middle of it. He was saving them to CD. Well, I looked at the files on the CD and sure enough, there they were. So... I popped it out, took it to my PC, opened the CD and it was BLANK! Go figure. So.. I had my 14 year old re do it all on his PC. All went well.

We had a similar problem with his IMac. It black screened, which you never hear about a Mac doing but it seems they are prone to it, let alone with the help of a Newfie!

Sorry but my hubby would vehemently disagree with you rick and i am leaning more towards getting a mac also once we have the $$ for it!
the amazing things you can do with photos and movies is not comparable to microsoft.
also what jason does with photos has yet to be "blank" on my pc

My husband and I both have PC laptops (mine's a 2-year-old Sony VIAO and his is a Compaq). He also has a Mac for his photography and I now have the Mac book. He is a total Mac man. As far as performance goes, the Mac seems kick the VAIOs butt by far. Quicker loading, less hassle. But it's new to me. I'm not the kind of person that has to choose one or the other. I guess I'm lucky that I have both. I'll do my own comparison.

This didn't happen....it was CAUSED by my cat. It doesn't have anything to do with the OS, only the SC (stupid cat).

Thanks Erin! I'll definitely give it a try.

Rick, there are some models and serial numbers that have known problems, so when something like that happens, it's good to do some searching on the Internet. At work, we have been on an all Mac platform (3 PCs in the entire company) for decades ... we started with the tiny little 6-inch screen square ones with 4MB of RAM (and I think there is still one in use). Anyway we have run into a few strange problems with the newer Imacs including one with an odd power issue but Apple has fixed all of them at no charge on the same day at our area Apple store.

Hah,
I've seen similar things happen on a few of our macs. Some turned out to be damaged hardware, some a re-install (don't erase just re-install the system) of the OS fixed it.

macs pc's? no difference, now they have exactly the same hardware, speed completely depends on the taks and the software.

Okay, here's the transcript from my tech support call:

Me: Help my computer is jazzed
Him: I'll need your serial number
Me: How do I do that?
Him: Go to the little blue apple in the top left corner. Do you see it?
Me: Well, it's not blue.
Him: It's not blue? What color is it?
Me: It's a pukey orange color, that's why I'm calling.
Him: Okay, press and hold the control, function and apple keys and then the number 8.
Me: I love you Apple Man! My hero!

Okay, so the last part I made up. Seems I have a very talented cat to simultaneously press 4 keys that are in different spots.

AND I was on hold for less than one minute. Told you it was something that was caused....guess I'll get Bacardi into the local typing pool...data entry or something.

Glad you got it fixed Leslie, I had no doubts! :D Their Tech support is the best!

Due to owning my own newspaper I started out on a Mac and have had them ever since. One time when my laptop was in for service Best Buy gave me an HP for a loaner. I hated it, it was soooo slow, you had to have so much security on it that it took forever to load, and didn't want to work with me at all with my photos. It was supposed to be comparable in ram and speed to my MAC. I was soo glad when BB decided to just give me a brand new MAC laptop and I was able to get rid of the HP.

I'm glad you got it fixed. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Mac and will always own one!!! Their customer service is great!!

If you bought the Apple ProCare take advantage and go to some classes at your local Mac store. We took a few and learned a lot. The Mac has so much to offer.

I have owned PCs my entire life. Literally scores and scores of them. There are no less than 9 Windows PCs running in my house right now.

I would trade them all for Macs in a heartbeat if not for the fact that Visio does not run natively on the Mac.

That is all.
