ok, sydney is in coat transition.
he is getting his adult coat in, but the puppy fuzz is still predominant in places, i am planning on entering him on saturday in fondulac on april 19 under Patrick Donier.
i am fearful though that he wont look his best with his coat like this, and i am putting him in bred by exhibitor class.
i am hopeful he will ask sydneys age, becouse syd will be 14 months old in april, his chest still needs to come in, he is immature looking but there is hope right????

would you show with the coat in transistion?
i am hoping it will be in better by april.
i think i will enter morgan in obediece, she needs two more legs for her CD and she is very clingy with me, i want to take advantage of that ;)

I have seen newfs shown with transitional coats and it did not seem to have much bearing on the judging. They judges know what is going on with their coats so it should really not be a problem. The worse thing is that he gets a little extra practice in the ring.

Thanx for the vote of confidance dogger! ;)
Sydney does have maturing to do yet, and without a full coat, i am sure that will be the deciding factor! LOL
but NY thinks maybe not, so we will see, i am not sure what this particular judge really looks for, some like movement, some like big heads, some like really full coats, so that is why i posted this, hoping someone knows if this is a movement judge ;)

If I recall correctly (but maybe my memory is failing me too), Patrick is a Dobe breeder. From what I recall, he is big on movement. He will put up Landseers. Transitional coat is going to be iffy. Does Sydney have any furnishings?

Hi linda, thanx, yes he has furnishings but they are not the adult furnishings yet, they are starting to get thicker, the hinder partneeds to come in more, it is getting there but not quite what i would like to see.
maybe in a months time though it will look better yet.

Having shown to this judge several times in the last few years, I have concluded:

1. He likes Landseers
2. He likes FULL coat
3. He doesn't seem to care about front or rear movement although he does watch side gait.
4. He is a handler judge.
5. He will put up a class dog/bitch over specials.

My two cents.

ahhhhhhhh who are you trying to fool?? Sydney looks great and will do wonderful at the show...
He looked wonderful in the last pic you sent me.

Now if you want to feel better about showing him, I could send you a recent pic of Logan....................

hee hee. I need to stop pickin' on my Muppet man
He's going through the teenage stage right now and just needs time to mature and come into his own. I already have a glimmer of how great he'll look one day. I just love that boy!! :D
