Another question re Bringin Baby home

Ok, I am only able to fly out of Atlanta, so it's almost 8 hrs there in the car and right onto the last flight, another 7 hrs in the crate. Is it still worth trying to get her straight home? Would I be better doing a motel after the car ride and before the flight?
I promise I'm not normally this neurotic.

I would say to do whatever is easiest for yourself. You don't want to be utterly exhausted upon your arrival home. Kim

I would take my time. You're going to be stressed, excited, tired, hungry, in unfamiliar surroundings, etc. Make this first trip an enjoyable one for both of you. You can't do much about the flight, but you can take plenty of time on the road trip. Stop frequently for breaks and some play time. Spend the night if you like. Just keep it happy and relaxed. Any tension on your part will be sensed by the dog.

How old is the dog? Dogs go through fear periods at certain stages of their young life. Older dogs can be more resilient.

Thanks guys , I'm glad you gave the answers I wanted to hear, lol. They aren't sure of her age but they think almost 4 months. I hope thats not a fearful stage, i dont remember since its been almost 12 yrs since i had a 4 mos old puppy.I'll get a better idea when I see her in person. I also found out that Atlanta has a new dog park at the airport! I'll certainly have to play everything by ear but it's nice that there are more options there. Except the option of getting on a plane without driving 8 hours first :( Ok, I'm leaving in 12 hrs, wish me luck, that I'll be the windshield and not the bug (I liked that one) Thanks again ;)

I agree, do what is best for you. maybe stay in Atlanta over night? start your big drive on a good night's sleep...it won't do to have you in an accident because you are tired. See if you can find a dog friendly hotel, she should be under 50 lbs at that age.

Please just be safe on the road :)

Also, we all get crazy before new babies come home :) Seriously, go look at some of my first posts before I got my boy home...it'll make you giggle :)
