Animal Bowen

Just really wanting to know if anyone at all has heard of the Bowen method of therapy for dogs (animals) and if it really is worth the price of the therapy. I'm torn with what I read about it whether it is worth it or not. I want to do what will be best for 'Bella. At the same time I don't want to throw good $$$ down a hole. I've heard of this method for humans so that is why I'm curious if any NNers have had practitioners use this methodology on their Newfs and to what success?

I had never heard of, it but looked it up. Seems harmless. How expensive is it? Maybe you could ask to observe or something.

You also might look for T-Touch practitioners in your area.

Since no one is responding, if you do try it, please let us know. We can always use good tools to help our dogs.

I've never heard of it, so please let us know what you decide, and give us a follow-up.

Swim therapy is pretty much the best exercise, but not always available. I do walk Maggie a mile or more every day, with her harness on. The leash attaches to a loop between her shoulder blades. I encourage her to "walk on" ahead of me, letting her keep tension on the lead. Her physical therapy vet said that this forces Maggie to "rebalance", getting more of the weight off of her front legs and onto those rear legs, to make her work and build the muscles in her rear assembly. The vet highly recommends this exercise (walking like this, in a properly fitted harness) for dogs with HD.

FYI: the harness our vet gave us to use is a "Premier" brand "Sure-Fit Harness", in size XL.
