Advice needed! Spending a small fortune on Cadie's recovery-pee issues!

Hi all,
Cadie is being such a good trooper, I, however, am tired and depressed with the whole thing! But I didn't come here to indulge in self-pity, this time :). I am spending a small fortune on floor mats/non-skid things because pee gets on them and a small fortune on constant laundering of blankies and sheets: cadie will go to the pee pad to pee, but it gets on her back paw(s) in the process and/or she steps in the pee. Then she walks across the non-skid things and her bedding area leaving a trail of stinky pee splotches. The last thing I bought for it's non-skid feature is an 8x10 runner/mat that, people use under area rugs. I just finished cutting it in half and throwing some away because an especially bad pee trail. They arent cheap. And it happens in seconds so even if I get right over there it's impossible to prevent. Figuring out the pee issue is a real nuisance!! What have you done in this situation?:grrr:

I think I remember that you have a lot of steps to go outside so its hard to get her to the grass, correct?

Can you build a box with actual grass/sod on your deck that you can easily get her to for potty time? That way you eliminate the peeing inside on stuff. (And you won't have to re-train when she's recovered). This was our plan when we though Maggie needed surgery. They have those portable potty boxes for dogs where the pee drains through, but I'm not sure they are large enough for a newf. And they are likely expensive. I'm thinking a homemade version of that?

Can you get her outside? We have only one step to the patio so that's what I do, with the Help Me Up harness. Some folks have built ramps, when they have 3-4 steps...

the only other thing I can think of is to make her a post-potty stepping area of something that can be washed easily. Is it possible to put down some blankets or towels off her pee pad that she could step on with pee pee feet and you could just throw in the wash when it gets a little yucky? you might have to put some backing down to make sure it didn't slide, but you can get that sticky rubber stuff for cupboards at the dollar store or walmart.

I can get her onto the deck and in a little more time will have her use a ramp, hopefully, to get over the 5 steps to the front yard. But today, for instance, it was pouring rain, or sometimes she is out cold when I am going to bed so she doesn't pee (she has never gotten into a habit of going out for a quick bedtime pee- she is likely to just lay down and sleep, or start playing) so sometimes she has peed during the night.

I think it would be a good idea to try to make something for the deck. I wish I had been better about getting her to potty on demand!

I was starting to think along those lines (towel "landing") but I didn't think of the sticky stuff to help secure it. Thank you

And I just took her out (9pm) and she wouldn't go/didn't need to so it's anybody's guess what i will find at 5am!

Ok, this isn't as expensive as I thought it would be. Try something like this on your deck?

If it's bad weather and she won't go outside, you could maybe haul it inside if really necessary?? It should drain so she doesn't get it on her feet.
