Adopted a cat today

I've been wanting to get a cat for AGES but last time I tried to go and adopt one they wouldn't give me one as my place is on a main road, and they were absolutely not willing to negoatiate even though it was going to be inside 95% of the time and only outside when I was outside, in our fenced in garden with it. anyway, that was months ago and it really put me off. My Mum and sister went on Friday to adopt a kitten from the shelter - another companion for Barney (their cat) and Rory (our Newf - lives at their place though). They had to go along to finalise the paperwork for their adoption today and dragged me along. Mum was saying "go in and have a look" and I was saying "no, no, no. I'll come back another time". Anyway, I sort of glanced in the cat room through the window and this big black cat caught my eye. I popped in for a brief look and WHAM, in two seconds I knew I was getting this cat. :D

She's 3 years old and called Sasha, very friendly and she has grown up in an apartment right inside the city so she'll be happy to stay inside (big load off my shoulders, I had envisioned ending up with a cat who ran for the door every time I opened it). Her owners said they were moving overseas apparently. She's being microchipped and desexed tomorrow and I get her tomorrow night.
I'm really looking forward to having a pet in my place, as Rory likes to visit but wants to go home after about an hour. Wish me luck!

Congratulations to you and Sasha! It sounds like you're very excited. You'll have to let us know how things go. Good Luck!

I have her now and she's lovely.

She's been very friendly but has now retreated under the bed to sleep. I think she's going to settle in fine.

How wonderful that she has found her 'cave'..and will tuck herself in..as needed. Do you have a catnip (catmint) plant in your garden area..or do you use dried? Have a lovely time getting to know each other.
