A Newfy Sized Hey-Low

Just wanted to introduce the furry kiddos and the ones they own...us I'm Keri and my boyfriend is Ross. We live in NC and are owned by:

Bodacious Ballofur a.k.a Balli pronounced Ball-E a 5 yr young male Newf
Keigen Beigen from Shoibogon a.k.a. Keigen a 4 yr young female Golden Retriever rescue
and last but not least and he wouldn't let you forget it...
Jasper Tyson the 7 yr young Maine Coone mix rescue

I'm not quite sure how to do the Avatars and post pics. Can someone point me in the right direction? We do have a website:

I've been interested in Newfs since I was 17. Spent 8 years learning about, watching, and doing anything to be around them! Spent a year waiting for 1. Spent the last 5 years thouroughly loving and being loved by Balli

Balli and I adopted Ross, the boyfriend about 2 years ago and he brought along Keigen. Jasper, who would like to disown all of us at times, has been with me since the day he was almost put to sleep at 10 weeks old for being too mean. Did I mention he was abused and terrorized by 3 kids in the home before me??? Of course he was mean...he was protecting himself.

Anyways, we all wanted to say HI!! So far it's only me doing the reading...the furry kids are still learning that trick

I've loved the site so far and the pics are great. Must admit my hearts in Rescue though.

I look forward to reading the posts, seeing pics, and adding to this great site!

Welcome, NewfGewf. I love the pic of Balli with his head and big feet hanging over the arm of the sofa.

We've also got two Maine Coons, Caesar and Antigone. Antigone (Annie) was a rescue, too. I adopted her from a shelter, after she'd been found abandoned and sick at a truck stop. She's such a sweetie now, but it took a couple of years to win her over.

Thanks for the great introduction!!!! As for posting pictures and using your own picture for an avatar, here are some instructions I wrote up a while back:

HOW TO POST A PHOTO

NOTE: Before you post any picture on to Newf Net, they have to first be uploaded onto some sort of server. Most Newf Netters seem to use websites like fototime, webshots, epson, image station, etc. Many of these are free, or offer trial periods. I use fototime, and will reference to fototime in the method below. I do not subscribe, so my pictures are purged every 30 days. This is no big deal. I just upload them again. These instructions are based on using fototime, so if you use another server, they may differ slightly.

Here are step by step instructions:

Hint: I always have two windows open when posting pictures. One is on Newf Net, the other is on Fototime

1. Upload your picture(s) onto your photo website.
2. Once the picture has been sucessfully uploaded, get a link to the picture.
3. Click on Edit at the top of your browser, and select "Copy"
4. Go back to Newf Net and click on "Post Reply".
5. A reply window will open. If you want to type in a message before you put in your picture, go ahead and type it in.
6. Then, scroll down about half way… until you see the smileys. Next to the smileys are several buttons. Click on the one that says "Image"
7. A small window will open. Click on Edit at the top of your screen, and then click on paste.
8. You should now see your link in the field. Click OK
9. The small window will disappear. Click on the "Add Reply" button at the bottom of your screen.
10. You should eventually be taken back to the message page, and you should be able to see your post with the picture. Sometimes, I have to click on "refresh" to reload the page.

How to use one of your own pictures for your Avatar.

NOTE: Before you post any picture on to Newf Net, they have to first be uploaded onto some sort of server. ALSO: pictures must be in jpeg format!

Here are step by step instructions:

1. Upload your picture(s) onto your server of choice!
2. Once the picture has been sucessfully uploaded, click on it so it will open
3. Then, Right click on the picture, and a small menu will pop up. Click on properties, which is probably at the bottom of the menu.
4. You will see an address. That is your link to the picture. Starting with http, highlight the entire link.
5. Then, Right Click over the link, and click on copy.
6. Go back to Newf Net and click on "My Profile" which is near the top of the screen.
7. Click on "View/Update Profile"
8. You'll be taken to a page that shows your profile. Scroll about 1/2 way down until you see "Avatar Image". There is a link to the right that says "Select Different Avatar Image". Double click on this link.
9. A small window will open. You will see lots of Avatars that you can choose from. At the bottom you will see a "Use Custom URL" next to a field.
10. Paste your link from Foto Time into this field.
11. Click on the "Set URL"button
12. You should now see your pic in the upper left hand corner of the small window. Click on it to select it, and then click on the "Select this Avatar" button.
13. The small window will go away, and you will be back on your profile page. You should see your picture. Scroll down to the bottom of your profile page and click on the "Update Profile" button.
14. You should be all set. Your avatar will show up on all future posts.
