A letter from my grandma

I found something kind of neat the other day. It was a letter my grandmother had started to her aunt. Guess she never finished it. Anyway, she died 20 years ago and the letter was written 10 years prior to that. Looking at the fact that it was 30 years ago - it showed me that there were dog crazy people around for a long time lol. Anyway - please don't take offense at the "putting to sleep" thing. I think that might have been a normal/common thing back then.

Letter
Let me know your thoughts!

Oh yeah - Aunt Alice was my grandmother's aunt from her father's side. (father's sister). Henry was my grandmother's second husband. They divorced in the 50's. My dad (Bill) was from my grandmother's first marriage but when she and Henry divorced, Henry adopted my dad as his son and that's where my dad grew up.

In a strange, round-about-kinda-way..this really fits..for a posting..on the days of Nov. 1, 2 and 3rd. I took a collection of foods, fruits, candles, flowers and such..into the friend who will be celebrating the 'Day of the Dead' period..of honoring his relatives..who have passed on..in Mexico. This is a loveing, and lovely expression of family closeness, and togetherness, that the letter represents. Some folks..close away/out..any memory..of departed ones, others..have many ways..to remember the love shared. I think..this letter..is a link..of deep love. Thank you so much..for making it poss. for all of us to share in that. ina n HB

Forgot about Day of the Dead
I grew up in a highly populated Latino area (Wilmington, CA) and it was common to talk of deceased relatives in a present sort of way.

I think my grandparents would be thrilled to know I have dogs in my life now. I didn't get to know my grandmother. And my grandfather didn't have much to do with our family. He prefered his dogs ;)

It's kind of neat, reading about how dogs affect people's lives...even from 30 years ago. I think most of us here on the Newf Net feel that way about our newfs (and probably animals in general). Our lives revolve around them, and we're quite happy with it that way.

That was interesting and sweet. The part about the terriers fighting was really cute. Thanks for sharing.
