These are gorgeous!! What kind of lens are you using? I'm sure the bird wasn't right in front of your face. :)

Thanks Debbie. I don't have that lens but do have the Cannon EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS so will see if I can play with it and get anything even close. hahaha I haven't used it much, but now you've given me inspiration.

Your shots are awesome!

I've got that lens, too. It should work for this. The main thing is patients. I shot over 5 days time 3000+ images to get about 20 good one's. Not everyone has the patience for it. I look forward to seeing your images.

I have a Canon 5D Mark ii. I have a 70-200 f/2.8 lens. I could get the shutter speed but not the zoom. I guess I'd have to get a bit close. Maybe I'll ask for the 300 for my birthday. I do have a 2X converter for my 70-200 but I will lose 2 f-stops. It should still work, don't you think? At 1600 ISO do you get a lot of noise when printing? How big can you print without distortion?

Second thought at $7300 I won't be buying that lens. Even used it is $5000. As a hobby photographer I cannot justify spending that much on a lens.
