A Beef About Rescues on Facebook in General

I'm on Facebook. Recently, I've been receiving some rather disgusting pictures of dogs needing help from rescue groups that I have "liked." For example: one post had pictures of a pit bull that had its ears cut off. Another had a picture of a rescued pit that had been disemboweled by its previous "owner" and survived!

What gives? Why do rescue groups feel that they need to post pictures like this.

Sorry if this post offends anybody. I'll let the mods use their discretion as to keeping this here.

I try not to like anything other than people/pups and rescues I know, that way I don't get pulled into things like that. Also if you want to clean up your FB there is a program called FB purity. I'm not a huge fan of FB, I do prefer this type of chat room to actually speak, otherwise I keep my thoughts to myself and love all the newfs I can!

I was having the same issue. I have unfollowed all of them except our regional Newf rescue and a local all breed rescue.

I know right? I have told my friends to please not post these pictures of these poor animals to my page...it is just too much...I am not sure what the world has become these days....

Sometimes the only way to get the word out about the abuse of innocent animals is to post their pictures. Else we all look away and push it back in our thoughts that there is cruel people in this world that will exploit the weak and innocent for profit.

In my opinion the pitt bull have the roughest time of it above all others. Everyone is so eager to post when they attack but seldom show the amount of cruelty and torture they endure, like having their ears cut off, starved with heavy chains around their necks, their whole lives pushing some of them past the breaking point. I can still close my eyes and see abuse cases, but I know it is out there and try to educate people around me.

They are trying to force awareness, maybe to raise funds, maybe to raise anger. I only "like" one Newfoundland group, one large rescue group, one senior sanctuary group, and a large, well run local rescue group. All of these are places where I make donations when I can. I know the horrors, I've seen the horrors, and I even adopted one of the horrors (a Lab that had been abused, neglected and tied to a tree to starve to death).
