Maggie is currently on a homemade diet of salmon and sweet potato. We supplement with occasional raw turkey/chicken necks and eggs from the farmers market. She also gets a variety of veggies, usually whatever we cook for ourselves.
We have a CSA share and Maggie gets her share. In the summer, it was familiar things like broccoli, green beans, carrots, etc. Now in the winter we are getting some interesting things that I'm wondering if she can share too.
We have a lot of rutabaga, celeriac, beets, and turnips. Has anyone fed these kinds of root veggies? Obviously this is not a main staple of her diet, but just rounds it out for fun or when she's still a little hungry after getting her allotment for the day.
Also, do any of you increase the calories you feed in the winter if your dogs are more active? If so, how much?
