Timber is still holding her own. She has a cough and is slowing down but just call her name and she waggs her tail to hear it. My sister brought her Golden over last weekend for a 'play date', Timber thought that was pretty great! Overall we had a terrific weekend.
I hope all the other seniors are enjoying life with good food, family and friends.

Gracie is doing well, occasionally requiring a boost going up a step or two! I really think giving her the Microlactin twice a day helps, as she isn't on any prescription medications.

Incidently, those who remember me talking about her 1/2 sister down in WA state, Gypsy, she is doing well apparently and is now 14 yr and 3 months, walking on her own without help, on Derramax once a day.

Hugo, after 12 years, has finally learned how to get past the bungee cord on the pantry doors where the trash can lives. This was a great system up until about 2 months ago.

Sigh...who says old dogs can't learn new tricks. Now I'm worried about the fridge, because his favorite addiction (canned pumpkin) is in there. As it is, he sits and stares at the refrigerator door. I know he's thinking about how to accomplish the task.

Of course, if it takes him another few years to figure it out, I won't be sorry.

Oh Jane....I love that story. I hope he figures it out!!!! Good to hear everyone is doing good.

Glory is becoming more vocal as she reaches her senior years and she has no problem climbing on the couch into her daddy's lap....something she's never done before. It's been interesting to see so many new behaviors developing.

It is so fun reading how all the senior newfs are doing. I pray each of you have many many months/years left with your seniors.

Guess you have seen that Echo just had her 13th birthday. Wish she could handle pain meds it would be easier on us, but she's doing okay all things considered.

My golden oldie, Gander Bear, still acts like a three year old even though he turned 10 years last month. With my recent loss of Belle he is now the patriarch of the kennels and along with his litter sister, Grace, whom I co-own with a family in Indiana, the main guinea pig for my efforts to learn how to keep Newfs living fully to their genetic potential.

With Belle, the challenge was to prevent cancer, especially bone cancer, which took her dam at 11 and a litter sister at eight years. Gander Bear poses a different challenge however as he has the body type most often connected with bloat and his sire died of this at age 11.

Gander Bear and Grace are on the latest kibble that I am testing, EVO Herring & Salmon. This kibble has the advantage, among other things, of only needing a small quantity, in their cases, two cups a day; they also get a can of sockeye and two large Milk-Bone biscuits daily.

This past weekend, a photographer came out with his kids to take pictures of two hard to adopt rescue fosters to show on the website how good they are with young children . The kids, a five year old boy and an eight year old girl, were so darling that I offered them dog cart rides after the photo shoot. Gander Bear was only too happy to oblige both the kids and the photographer and when I get the pictures I'll share.

Some of you old timers may remember Daria. She's as naughty as ever....if not more so..:devil3::devil3:

The other day she snagged a bottle of corn syrup from my counter, tore off the lid and chewed it all to hell and doused the carpet with the contents. Made a huge nasty sticky mess. We tried everything but the carpet just got blacker and uglier. Today I finally had an Ahh ha moment and snagged a bottle of Tide and filled the carpet cleaner up with very hot water, threw in some Tide and in a bit, I could see that nasty stain lifting. Yeah!!:dance01:

Daria is a bitch on wheels. She did her latest deed because I didn't take her for a ride. She is one vengeful bitch and I truly believe she puts the B in bitch!!:run::devil:

She'll be 8 in June. Anyone want to take in a veteran? Please?:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Not sure what age constitutes veterans but I have Radisson and his sister stormie here and they are doing wonderful. They will be 7 in June. Still sweet as ever. Thankfully they never caught onto any of Daria's nasty tricks.....

Chance is doing great at 13 yrs 7 mos. He's completely mobile, but struggles slightly (his rear) getting up off the tile floor, where he prefers to lay. He ran around (yes ran) trying to catch up with the younger dogs today while they played ball and retrieved in the water. I only worry that they're going to smash into him but they seem to be careful dodging around him as they race around.

Mira is now officially a senior...and is 8 yrs 3 mos. She dove, swam, retrieved and played full force today. She's doing great. She was always our athlete. She's a little slower now...but not much at all.

Molly is also a senior. She'll be 8 in July! She's doing great too. She's our slowpoke, moves like a snail generally, but she's swimming and playing with the others.

We also have some senior Goldens, and a very senior active Toller (who acts like she's 2, but is 11), but I'll spare you the pics. Here are the Newf seniors. Ours just don't seem to realize they're seniors. But they're a bit stiff after the first Romp N Swim of the year...and so am I!

Here's Chance a few months ago:

Chance just a few weeks ago:

And here's Mira today:

And Molly today:

Oh!

Didn't somehow think of the 7 and 8 yr olds as seniors:(

So........... guess I have a bunch of seniors, not just Gracie:dance01:
The Brothers Nicholas and Arthur are just fine, except for Nicholas's Alopecia X which is the most disasterous thing I think that has ever happened to one of my Newfs.

Evan is working on his RAE and is cute as ever. He limps on occasion and is on Cartrophen and Glucosamine.

Mary K, I'll take Daria if you like:kgo_027:
