A new customer came to tour the kennels. They have a mix breed that they say is overweight. The dog weighs 106 lbs. They are telling me how they just cannot get the dog to lose weight.

Later in our conversation she tells me the dog only eats people food. She cooks extra so the dog has enough to eat also. She wanted to know if I would feed the dog people food. I told her as long as she packages it in baggies, 1 per feeding, I'd be happy to do so. She said the dog likes freshly cooked food and if I would cook the food. Then she said she would cook it but I would have to heat it up in the microwave.:crazy:

I took the opportunity to explain to her that is probably the reason her dog cannot lose weight.

No she is not from my town, but a town in the next county. They must be on the same water as we are!

8 days till vacation!!

Interesting, I know of another lady who cooks for her dog. Dog is a 170 pound brown female. She is actually a very nice lady who is 40ish with no kids, which probably helps explain things...

My wife (Mary Ellen) is from the hills of Virginia, and she talks about the beagle she had growing up; it should have been 20 lbs, but it was closer to 40. Vet told her he needed to get more exercise and lose weight.

First day, she barely got him to walk completely around the house and he was exhausted. They came back inside, her grandmother took one look at the dog and said "he looks hungry", then made him biscuits and gravy. Mary Ellen gave up. He didn't live long, but he was happy.

Growing up my grandparents had a bullmastiff pitbull mix. Don't let his breed fool you. We called him a large sized chihuahua. He thought he was a lapdog and would try to sit on your lap on the couch. He cried anytime anyone walked past the house because he wanted attention. And he'd give kisses to everyone. Not a good watch dog. It's one thing to feed your dog human food like this new customer of yours Jeannie, but get this! My grandma would make him his meal and then spoon feed him or else he wouldn't eat!! He was never over weight because he ran around the yard all day, but he was spoon fed from a puppy till about 14 years old. Humans and their fur children!! I love all your posts, thank you for sharing :)

It is nice to know I am not alone!! :bandit: My dogs love freshly cooked food. Once I put it in the fridge they aren't as fond of it, sooo I microwave it! :run:
But I have had my share of nutty online customers too lately, so I get it. Once I think I have heard it all, something else comes up!
