Your AC is On

We've had it on for over a month. House and kennels. Our geothermal is wonderful. Electric bill last month, which includes the house and kennel, was $165. Before it would have been $500 or more. We use to run 2 central air units and 2 through the wall units. Now we run 2 geothermal units. House at 72 and kennels at 70. Unreal the difference.

I know Snuffles' kinfolk have geothermal too. Not sure how they do money wise on a cold winter night since they use electric heat if the heat pump action can not keep up, but I think summer AC costs are very reasonable to keep the house 70 or below.

We have never gone on back up heat. We have the vertical unit. It is like a closed loop but goes 70 feet into the ground. At that depth the temp is always 45-50 degrees. Unlike a horizontal closed loop that is only a few feet below the ground where it can freeze in the winter.

In the summer our geo unit just blows the cool air out. In the winter it has to heat it about 25 degrees.

Yep we have had our ac on for a couple months now. When Bailey was with us we had the house set at 71/72 now it is at 74/75. Ginger our boston terrier doesn't have to be under blankets now and Sarah is doing ok with laying on the floor vents or under the ceiling fan.

Our AC is on off and on year round, but mostly during the day starting in March and running at least through Halloween. Moonlight loves the kitchen floor which has two big air ducts running under the length of it and two vents blowing on her. The floor is absolutely frigid.
