18 is what was recommended to me and I LOVE it! Website seemed a little confusing to me so I called and spoke with them, lovely people!

18 double wide is what I have and I love it. Next to my new comb, it is my favorite for thinning the bum and neck/chest fur that gets so think on my guy. I have a few friends that have other brushes that thin, some are better in other areas since they are smaller, but almost every time we brush the boys (we all have boys for the most part), the response is "oh yeah, I've gotta get one of these, this works great in this area". I'm on the hunt for a little white one my friend has...wicked for pits and ears and the inside of the hips.

I have the 18 double wide too. It's just an "ehhh" for me. I don't like it and never use it. If you're not careful you can get really carried away with it.
Instead I blast out the undercoat and use my trusty rake and comb. That way I'm not stripping guard hairs too if I don't pay attention. (I get distracted easily with five) lol
As a matter of fact if anyone stateside wants the MCK I have send me a pm and I'll gladly mail it your way. It's ridiculous for me to keep it in the drawer not being used. First come first served!

Yes, you can get carried away, and it isn't for every coat. My guy has enough for two in some areas, so i'd have to really just phase out of it to do much dammage. Mostly it just thins the thick areas and helps them lay flat and look normal. For me it is faster than thinning with shears....i'm horrid with them, so i normally do leave holes if i try to go that way.

18 double wide is what was recommended here. I have a 30 double wide and like it. Two of our four have very , very heavy coats. We use it carefully at certain times of the year, and it works for us. I like the K9III dryer to blow out coat and love my Chris Christianson comb. Kim

thanks guys i've purchased an 18 blade from ebay now and looking forward to getting stuck in with it! Charlies coat is incredibly thick and his chest is nearly impossible to keep knot free as he drolls into it so much so it badly needs to be thinned out

My Mila has a tremendous mane, as I like to call it. I must admit, I have neither the time nor the patience for line combing her with the MCK, but it does a great job of thinning her ample bosom and throat.

how have we survived so long without one of these its great. stripped so much hair off charlie yesterday and still not finished. will be careful not to go too far but his coat is just so dense its great to be finally able to strip some of it away without having to pay a groomer for it every time
