Two cats, in past two weeks

It is with a very heavy heart that I am posting the passing of two of our cats.

O'Malley, our gorgeous ginger boy, had chronic urinary issues. His first total blockage was when he was just 18 months old. He was on a prescription diet the rest of his life, but still blocked a few more times. This last time was Feb 12. We took him to the ER vet, and already knew, before they told us, that we were going to have to let him go. He had too much scar tissue to even pass another catheter. He was almost 7 years old.

He lay cradled in my arms, with his face resting on me, as he quietly slipped away.

Our other kitty was our 16 year old "grumpy girl", Tasha. She never liked the other cats, and would warn them away if they got within 4 feet of her. The day our daughter-in-law's Chihuahua ran right up to her, thinking he was going to chase her, she was my hero! He had chased our other cats and even tried to pick a fight with Brenna (newf). Tasha just calmly watched him run toward her. As he got close, she sat up on her haunches and let her claws out, and waited. About the time he realized he might be doing the wrong thing, and put on his brakes, it was too late. He slid on the hardwood floor, right into her. She lashed him from one side then the other, several times, before he could even back up. He still chased the other cats, when he came to visit, but ALWAYS walked a huge circle around Tasha. :)

Tasha was a purry lap-sitter, as long as the other critters left her alone. In the last year, she took to sleeping next to my shoulder, because she knew I'd protect her from those "young roughnecks".

She had a large mass in her abdomen, and the vet said it looked like she had been sick a long time. She just hid it well, and didn't let on, until yesterday. We made the decision to help her cross the bridge, and she passed quietly about 4:15 pm.

So sorry to hear of your double loss. They were both lovely. I lost four of my five within a two year period. Cats are small, but their souls and spirits are huge.

So sorry for your loss, your first one looks like my mums favourite cat called Galas though he had Tasha's temperament.
