Anyone been using Golden Paste with your newfs? We just started, but wondering what amount I should work up to? Currently only doing 1/4 tsp 2x a day. Thanks.
I've been using it, you are the one who determines how much to increase or decrease to find a maintenance dose, most use 3 teaspoons a day but it's how you or your pup react to it.
We started it a few weeks ago. Millie gets a teaspoon twice a day for now. I know some have said it can cause loose stools in the beginning but I have been fortunate that it hasn't affected her in that way.
Glad to see Dawn mentioned she uses it. She recently sent me a PM about it, but I have not done a thing to look into it yet. Not sure Snuffles is ready for another supplement.
I started Hannah on it a couple of weeks ago. At almost ten she was beginning to get a little creaky.
Right now she is getting a teaspoon daily. Getting ready to up her does again. I think it is helping her already.
No stool issues so far.
Leonard, it's certainly worth a shot, it can't hurt. I just bought a pill machine so I can start myself & Vin on the golden stuff! I do see improvement with Myra, and Zeke he has actually been running to the park everyday....he hasn't done that in years! But Vin is my major experiment, he's been having such an issue with his hands and is on meloxicam, I'll keep you posted....off to find some coconut powder
Our Raw COOP sells organic turmeric powder. I put some on their food and haven't seen any negative reactions. They all seems to like it. Is there any benefit to making it into a paste if they eat in powder form?
Shelly: From what I read and understand the paste is absorbed better....Millie is taking the paste morning and evening. She is not as big of a fan as many other newfs but she eats it! lol And since she isn't absolutely in love with it, it slows her eating down a bit too which is never a bad thing.
Ebay, but it is very difficult to put the paste into pill form, trust me! Better off doing that with dry ingredients. Recently, I began freezing for the pups.
I started Evan on this yesterday, 1/4 tsp twice a day to start off. He is 11 3/4 yr now and getting a bit stiff. Hopefully it will help him.
Have others seen the benefit of it?
Absolutely Angela, Zeke had me running to the park everyday the first few weeks. You can even start out less than that just to get his body used it. Are you making it yourself? And I think they have tweeked the recipe a bit.
