Tsunami and Typhoon have not fallen off the Planet

Oh my goodness. Michelle and I and the kids have been so out of touch. It is so amazing how "Life" gets in the way of things. We want to apologize to our fellow Newf netters for not keeping you all updated with Tsunami and Typhoon.

We are neck deep in the Military moving process. Only 2 months to go and we will be leaving Germany behind us. We will so miss this place. We will be heading to Del Rio Texas and Laughlin AFB the end of September.

Tsunami and Typhoon and our family will be sad to leave Germany. But there is a new duty station to report to. I'm not sure that the 2 T's are ready for the CLIMATE change that is getting ready to occur. Can anyone give us some tidbits to help them get used to the hot weather in Texas. I"m pretty sure that they will be finding the nearest air condition vent and laying there all day. As a matter of fact, I think I will join them. I'm not to found of the heat either.

Please join us in praying that Tsunami and Typhoon will have a safe flight. The plan right now is to book a flight for them the week before we leave. They will fly to Atlanta and my Mother In-law has agreed to pick them up and kennel them until we arrive. We will not fly out until 24 September. We are in the process of booking a flight for them. Unfortunately the Military does not provide for the relocation of pets. We have reached out to a few resources for help in offsetting the extremely expensive price of shipping them to the U.S., but have not had any luck. I'm believing that a miracle is going to happen. We recently heard of a program that the SPCA has for military personnel relocating pets. I sent an application in today and am waiting to hear back from them.

Hopefully something will come through. I WILL NOT LEAVE THEM BEHIND. Tsunami is now 5 years old and Typhoon is 4 years old. They are so ingrained in our lives.

Thank you Newf Net for your thoughts and prayers. We couldn't have succeeded in raising two wonderful Newfoundlands without the incredible knowledge of people on this Forum and their wonderful NEWFIES.

See you all in the U.S. soon.

I was wondering if you were still on NN and it is good to see the boys looking so good. Texas eh, I would not be able to leave them behind if it were me. Sure hope that you are able to access some $$$$.$$ to get them home. Maybe some NN's will have knowledge of such funds.
Keep us posted.

Is there a better price if they flew with you? Can your MIL give you a loan until you are settled? I hope you can work it out as they are precious. Thank you for your service.

Thank you Eric! doG bless you for your service! Again thanks a million!

I agree, I love Germany and have been there many many times. Up the Rhine, down the Mosel, beautiful country! (sp?) And all the wonderful cities! That was years ago, so maybe it was down the Mosel and up the Rhine...can't remember! LOL!

Please pm me.

Good to "see" you again.Did miss your Family and the boyfriends of Katy and Annabelle.
I am sure the boys will get used to the heat..mine do really well in the Australian heat. Mike and patty are from Texas and I am sure they will be able to give you some hints. We do not have AC. Just lots of ground floor fans (and ceiling too) And we have lots of water available at anytime.even kiddies swimming pool on the verandah....We found our dogs and us did better in the low humidity heat once we rid ourselves of the AC. Plenty of shady trees, verandahs and fans..great to hear you are going home :)

Great Idea. Thank you for sharing that.

Unfortunately there is no way for them to fly with us. The Military pays for our families tickets via the contracted plane that comes here weekly. They do not allow pets on the flight that are over 100lbs with the crate. So we are left searching for commercial airfare for Tsunami and Typhoon. I've asked family for help, but they are unable to help with funds at this time.

Boy have I really been a bad Newfie Parent. Missed you guys. Thank you for the ideas with the heat. We will be looking for a house with lots of tile and possibly a pool in the back yard. Tsunami and Typhoon have done really well here in Germany without the AC, but the temps don't get as high as Del Rio does. Hopefully we will be able to find a place with some shade to cool it down a little.

To all, thank you for your ideas, support, and caring. Newf net is truly a wonderful caring community brought together through the best canine breed ever. Your thanks for my service is truly appreciated and I would like to just share that it is my utmost pleasure to serve my nation and it's wonderful people.

Looks like the page is doing well on donations.not a lot but donation left.

Get your boys cooling coats as will help them plus when its hot l channel out Max's belly hair .you can't see its done but it helps him.be prepared for a lot of shedding too.

Perhaps you should write to the congress or someone relevant and tell them about the problems you have experienced getting your boys home.why should it matter what size they are, they are still family

I love how you set your priorities! ;) Tsunami and Typhoon are most anxious to meet some fellow newfies. Amazingly enough there aren't too many in our area of Germany.

Welcome back.. The 2 T's were missed... oh.. and you too !!!
Thank you Murphy! We have missed seeing and hearing about everyone's adventures. Soon we will be able to join in some of these Newf Net Get togethers. :icon_bb:

Great tip. We actually have been working on both T & T with their coats. They have been shedding a lot this summer.

Maybe you need to get to know some loadmasters, with the C-5's. When I worked as a civilian Air Traffic Control Maintenance supervisor at westover ARB, Ma. The reservesist always brought things back from Spain or Germany. As I bet lots of things make it back from the sand box.

Thank you for your service, I did 30 years as Civilian for Air Force Reserves before that 3 yrs at Larado AFB before it closed. Most houses at Laughlin AFB should have AC, gets hot but less humity

I totally love this. I actually told Michelle awhile back that the government would save so much money if they just packed up our whole household and used a C17 to fly us to our next duty station. :D
