OK so it a little early to get so excited yet but i just talked Gary and my mom into getting me a Goliath bird eating tarantula OK so i am insane but i have been wanting one for a very long time.

i went to a reptile show 3yrs ago and when i got to the spider table they had just sold the last one and so i got my hopes crushed because i didn't think i would ever get another chance to get one but the pet shop has one in right now and i just totally played the sympathy card on my mom and she is willing to buy it for me that is if our friend who runs the shop will hold it till next month.

its will be my early Christmas present but hey this is not the first time i have gotten what others think is weird for a gift because for Easter one yr she got me a striped knee tarantula who lived a pretty long life i was sad when she died. right now i only have my rose haired.

How cool! I've been thinking about getting a tarantula for our Nature Center. But I would have to keep it here, because the regular caregiver at the center is afraid of spiders. Every summer, I capture some wild spiders to show the kids and for them to care for, but I think they would like one they could handle. The wild ones just aren't tame enough. Just need to find a non-aggressive species.

Are you getting a female?

i dont have it yet that's why i say its really to early to be excited. its still to young to know the sex so i just have to hope its female males dont live as long.

the Goliath is not a pet so to speak they are not friendly and throw irritating hairs but that dose not worry me. my strip knee was my first tran and she was interesting one she could be handled but only when she felt like it.

i had a pink toe male who was very sweet but died a yr after i knew he was male.

rose hairs are supposed to be sweet but you cant touch mine she is very aggressive. when i worked at the pet shop i took care of the spider because no one else wanted to go near them. even after i quite working there is i was around when they sold one they always made me box them up.

Spiders are not my thing, but I think they serve a valuable purpose. I think it's cool you are interested in them! I must say, that spider above is beautiful! I am glad you are getting one you want!
