There was feature on Today Show - Today Investigates: Did Online Puppy Site Sell Sick Puppies?

One of the questions that Matt Lauer asked the reporter is where should people go for information on how to find a puppy and response by reporter was BBB or Human Society. No where did the breed clubs get mentioned in this interview as a source for people to find information. :darn:

Oh geez......:darn: Unfortunately most people really don't know about the all breed clubs and the support they can give to people looking for a puppy or an adult.

It's our job to keep telling everybody we can. Hopefully in our lifetime we can turn this around.

Wait a moment. If you listen to the final comment, the female reporter says to check out the Humane Society website for helpful information on how to find a good breeder. If you go to their website, they have a downloadable Brochure with very good info and it DOES tell you to go to the breed's parent club website for more specific info on that breed.

They also ask you to consider adopting a dog from a rescue organization.

Now, I don't like HSUS, but in this case, I think they did a good job presenting information to puppy buyers.

Janice, when I saw the story this morning I wondered the same thing. As a tv news producer, I know it is sometimes hard to know how to give viewers a lot of detailed information in a short period of time. At least a mention of breed specific clubs would have been nice, but after reading the HSUS brochure, I do think it does a good job of sending people in the right direction.

I did think it was sort of surprising when they didn't mention that Goldendoodles were not purebreds, but then I'm sure they would have had a lot of negative comments. Maybe it's better that they skirted around that issue and kept the facts simple and straight.

Good point.. I'd noticed that as well. That would have opened a whole other can of worms :run:
