Thyroid

For the last 4-5 months Sam has been very sluggish. When I took her to a trail--obedience or agility-she would just stop working for me. I decided to get her thyroid check and the results came back as low thyroid. She is now on medication. My husband and vet both told me I was wasting my money by having her checked. I was told she was getting lazy but I just knew that she was not acting right. She really had no symptoms except just tiring easily. She has a beautiful coat, so you would not thought anything was wrong. Anyway I am pleased I followed by instincts and she is now taking her solixone. I guess it may take about 3-4 weeks before I notice any changes. I am so happy I found the answer to my problems. I am also glad I just didn't take for granted that she was lazy and scolded her for something she could not help. Has anyone else had experience with low thyroid? Sam is only 3

My Newf does not have low thyroid but my beagle mix does. I noticed a difference in her in about a week after the medication. Keeper is about 8 or 9 and I thought she was just slowing down due to age. She now acts like a young dog and never seems to run out of energy. I sometimes wish I could go on her meds.
I'm sure you will notice a difference.

Just an update on Sam with her thyroid. She has been on her medication for 11 days and what a difference in her!! She is back to her old fun loving "I wanna play" self. Tonight I was at a fun show our local club had and Sam got a 186 1/2 on Novice A.
I thought she would be too tired to do any good because today we practiced our carting for the Nationals as well as went for our daily walk. By the way we were practicing for the Novice A obedience for the national tonight. I hope she just keep feeling better and improving

Great news, Jeannie! Hope she continues improving. It's amazing what the right meds can do.
