Thunder shirt

Does anyone have a thunder shirt we could possibly borrow to see if it is effective before I buy one? I would of course pay the shipping expenses.

We are wondering if it would help to calm Ruby and ease her anxiety when we are at training class.

I can only say...spend the $$$!

A couple years back, I sent the Thunder Shirt to a friend of mine who lives in the Dallas area. She has a rescue dog, Buddy. We know Texas can have big time storms.

Buddy would pant, whimper, shake, cry and demand to be next to his owner. Kay, my friend did everything to comfort him to no avail. I sent her the thunder shirt and she is religious with it. And now after these couple years, he doesn't need it that often, unless it is a major thunderstorm.

I wouldn't hesitate, Brandie! To me, it is worth the $$$ JMHO!

In the olden days we used to use a large bandage, horese size for legs and figure eight it firmly around the dog. It is where the thunder shirt comes from. Google Linda Tellington Jones and look at some of her youtubes, you will see how. it is more tedious, but a cheap way to try. A life jacket for swimming put on really firmly if you have one might also work to try. Even a very firm harness can make a significant difference and a good dog back pack. back packs is what I use for anxious or exitable dogs on walks, especially with a couple of water bottles as weight and snug fit..... all the same thing

Thanks for the suggestions! I didn't even think of trying her backpack fit really snug. We will try that first!! I knew you guys would have a good suggestion. We'll try it this week!

My Sue had a Thundershirt - we both loved it. It worked so well I bought her a pink one. I lost her before she ever used it (other than trying it on once). It's an XL (fits 65-110 lbs), fuchsia with some grey. You can have it if you want.

I have to sing the thundershirt praises too. A few years ago Appa was acting really strangely (had to be on us, wouldn't walk on walks, but would stop every 2 feet and sit on our feet, acting scared, like he was going through an extreme fear period...but he was 3 years old at this time). Called my vet, they couldn't think of any reason but said they were getting a lot of calls about nervous dogs. (nervous was an understatement).

Picked up a thundershirt and he went right back to his normal self. We took it off at night for him to sleep and he went straight back into the anxious state. A couple days later, our city flooded unexpectedly. Once the flood event was over, he was fine and the thundershirt came off.

Weird how all the dogs in the area seemed to know (we were just out of the flood zone).

The Thundershirt company is very good about returning. I bought one for Millie and it did not work at all, so I returned it. No questions asked!
