Thank you, Jeannie, for the words (I think I am responding to above). I just had to put down my newf-lab mix GORGEOUS boy two days ago. Am devastated beyond belief. I have a faith in Christ and eternity. Sometimes it is weak and I question if it isn't just wishfulness on our parts....but I do believe we were created by a loving God....a God that knows our hearts....created our pets and knows the special bond we share with them. I believe He loves them more than we do and that we will be reunited again. My vet, that came out to euthanize my very sick boy, said she almost always sees the dog looking up with his last breath, as if he is seeing or being welcomed to Heaven by someone he knows or someone who went before him. I choose to believe we will be together again. In the meantime, I'm looking for a newf-mix puppy.I believe we will once again be with our beloved pets. I do not see God allowing us such a companion on earth and not allowing us to spend eternity together. I know there will be animals in heaven as the bible says 'the lion will lay down with the lamb'. I beleive the best part will be we will be able to carry a conversation with them. In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve were able to talk to all the animals.
