OK... do any of you with these new fangled fancy cameras have the ability to take pictures using a telescope??? Saturn is going to be visible, and well, wouldn't it be cool if you could????

yes indeed - all of the SLRs can with the right adapters. Here's my old rig:

For those of you who think I need the latest and the greatest, that's a fully manual Pentax K-1000 film camera on that scope.
Cost me $150 used with a lens. Possibly the best camera I ever owned - especially if you want to learn photography.

My first SLR was the Pentax K-1000. I used it for many years and then our daughter took it to college for her photagraphy class. Great bang for the buck.

Heh - I don't have it anymore. Someday I'll get another. I had a ball with it!

That there is a Celestron Ultima-2000. They don't make them anymore, but a comperable scope would be in the $2000-3000 range.

All the new scopes have computers on them. For me the joy was in navigating the stars, using star charts and little red flashlights.

Computers on scopes make for more telescope sales and less people that know anything about astronomy. IMO.

Kathy's husband here. Finally a subject I can truly get into! (I like the dogs also). You don't need a mess of spendy equipment to take some pretty cool photos. These were taken with an el cheapo HP 4MP point and shoot through the eyepiece of a 12" Orion scope (about $800). Similar pix could be easily obtained with a smaller, less expensive telescope. I thought I had some Saturn photos around here somewhere, but I'm having a hard time finding them. Will post if I can locate.
