suddenly forgot about potty training

Kayak is 8 months old now and has been potty trained for some time. Over the last few days, it is as if he completely forgot it all and is back to regular puppy accidents. I thought maybe he felt sick but he is eating and drinking normally and everything is the consistency that it should be. I've been taking him out more regularly but that isn't helping either. In fact, we just went out for a nice walk and stopped at our usual potty stops and then came home and about five minutes later I found him peeing in the office. It's driving me crazy. I don't really want to go back to putting him in his kennel (he's not a huge fan and has earned a lot of freedom) but I also don't want my wood floors ruined. puppy accidents are one thing, but 110 lb dog accidents are a bit more frustrating.
Is it typical for Newfie's to go through a strange phase like this at his age? Or maybe is it something I am doing wrong?

Any help is MUCH appreciated!!

I would rule out any medical problems first and then look elsewhere. If he checks out at the vet, then I would start potty training from the beginning. It could be that he is maturing enough to start marking or it could be some seemingly simple change in his routine. Obviously, you must do a thorough job of cleaning and eliminating any odors to help prevent these problems.

Yup, sounds like a uti. We went though this with Thor.

Thor has never pooped in the house..even as a puppy, but has peed in the house. If you are having to take them out a lot more often it could be a uti. When you go out is it sometimes just a little pee or sometimes a lot of pee. Call the vet though. They might ask you to bring in a sample or just come in and they will get a sample.
