We are so excited. We had Malia on a diet for months now. Just took her for her checkup on her UTI. It turns out, she lost 9 pounds since April. We have her on California Naturals reduce calorie kibble. It's so hard to say no to her when she looks at the biscuit cupboard but it finally paid off! She only gets a half of a small biscuit a day (we give it to her after she gets her daily glucosamine).

Good for you!

You'll be amazed how easy it will eventually be to learn new habits (both of you!). Our girls used to know when it was snack time and go look at the cookie jar. We had to cut back on snacks, and Cozy can only have special snacks, so it was tough at first, but now it's a normal day.

It's really just like changing our own lifestyles - it takes a month or so, but new habits can be learned.

Good job!

Good work, Theresa! I've been lucky enough to have almost all of my Newf crew stay with me for 10 to 14 1/2 years, and my vets feel part of the reason is that I watch their weight. (Better than I do my own!

Thank you for the words of encouragement
Malia actually seems happier too. I think it's a combination of the weight loss and the recovery from that long dragged out UTI. Lately she's been more of a lovebug than usual and I didn't think that was possible. She's been getting me up in the middle of the night just for affection. When I stop petting her and want to go back to sleep, she lays her head on the bed and puts her face right in front of mine! lol!
