Stormie update

Just wanted to give you all a little update on Norma....our affectionate name for her. She's doing pretty good! Instead of basement dwelling Stormie, we now have under the back porch dwelling Stormie. She took it pretty well that she no longer has access to the basement. She's getting around pretty darn well. The first back step outside sometimes does give her a bit of trouble but once she's over that, stand back and leave her alone!!:!rolling: She'll get up the steps by herself thank you very much!!:roflmao: She does very well in the house now and walks wherever she wants to go.

I haven't given her Tramadol all week. Just wanted to see how she did but I still have some if needed. She's now on Joint Strong which i've always felt is a fabulous supplement. It arrived a couple days ago and she's doing very well on it. I gave it a bit of pause for thought because they changed the ingredients and it looked and smelled different. Smells like the Tumeric I use and lo and behold, they did add that ingredient. Works for me, hope it continues working for her.

These old dogs do take some work, don't they? But they are most definitely worth it. 11 1/2 year old Maia has started peeing in the house. When she has to go, she lets if flow. Because of that, she's now crated at night and during the day when I'm gone. She was none too thrilled at first but she's taking it like a champ now so that's good. I may look into the Leaks no more product. Shouldn't hurt, may help.

All in all, I'm very thankful and grateful that things seem to be on an even keel for now

Thanks for the updates. Glad Norma is chugging along and sorry Maia has some problems. I know how you feel with our oldies, it's like having a geriatric ward at times, isn't it!! But, they really don't complain, we just need patience.
Keep up the good work.

Sounds like they are keeping you on your toes. Glad Stormie is improving. Hope the leaks no more helps Maia.

wonderful update on Stormie. My Ginger is the same way as your Maia - we are looking into diapers but she has no tail to hold up any pants so looking at an overall type of outfit for her. Would Maia let you put a doggie diaper on her?

Glad to hear they are doing well.l got my mum an incontinence double bed pad for one of hers.if she gets up she automatically goes over to it,uses it and then toddles off.because it's washable it's very convenient and no stress for her dog.

We are going to try the no more leaks as well

I don't think diapers are the key to Maia's problem. It seems now when she has to go, she just goes with sometimes no warning to us. She and Stormie have picked the same spot of carpet to potty on. No matter what we use, we can't seem to get the stain out. Guess it could be worse....they could be pottying on all the carpet.....:darn:

Victoria, is this what your Mum uses? I use something similar for my puppies but a bigger size would help protect my carpet.

Bailey Boy, I hope you're able to find a good solution for your beautiful girl Ginger.

You might check out Proin or one of the other new incontinence drugs. My girls took it for years and years (before we found out not to spay so early) and it worked beautifully for them even in very old age.

Yes that's one of the types of incontinent pads l bought her,you can get them double and king-size so they are just so damn easy .make sure you go for one that takes a lot of liquid though but l also use them when house training ours or if they need a safe area to go when they have stomach upsets.
Also great under water bowls as well.

They last forever.and are easily washable .
